Soapmaking Workshop Intro April 24 @ 6:30pm
April 24th @ 6:30pm (class will last approximately 2 hours)
In this Intro to Soapmaking class you will learn the room temperature cold process method of soapmaking.
We will go over the safe handling of lye, ingredients we'll be using, mold types and lining, and curing. We'll also talk briefly about other methods of soapmaking and things that can go wrong.
This is NOT a demonstration type class - you will make your own batch of soap. We will make a batch of soap while you observe, and then we will walk you through, step by step, of making your very own batch. Dedication is given to each student, so classes are kept small!
We'll cut your soap the next day and you can pick up your batch from our studio or for an additional $10 you can take your mold home and cut your soap yourself. Decide at the studio and pay then if you want to take your mold home.
In this class we will be scenting our soap (we have many scents to choose from) and you have the option of adding oatmeal or other additives. You will make a 2lb batch of soap which will yield about 10 bars of soap.
Class is limited to 9 people. Additional guests for observation purposes are not permitted. Every guest in attendance must have purchased a seat.
Attendees must be 16 years of age or older. A waiver and hold harmless agreement must be signed at the workshop. You must wear long pants, closed toe shoes and a long sleeve shirt. All other PPE will be provided.
Future classes on various techniques will be held. This class must be taken in order to sign up for any future classes.
Your instructor has over 20 years experience in the handmade soapmaking business. Workshop takes place at 7950 Gratiot Rd., Suite 3, Saginaw, MI 48609. (Behind Verizon)
